She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and worked at local stations such as KTLA, News 12 Brooklyn, WIPX-TV, and Fox 5 New York. Tur became a storm chaser for the VORTEX2 team for The Weather Channel. In 2009 she joined New York City's WNBC-TV local station, before being transferred to the national NBC News. Her work with Donald Trump's presidential campaign culminated in the documentary Unbelievable My Front Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign In American History 2017. The main task of Tur was giving Trump's campaign information about the scandalous Access Hollywood tape. She was honored with the Walter Cronkite Award of Excellence in Journalism in 2017. From 2006 until 2009, Katy was together with Keith Olbermann. In 2009 she got married to Tony Dokoupil from CBS News.
