Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born to a musical family on 9 August 1963 in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. and cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. At the age of a small girl, Houston started singing professionally in the choir of her church. She was a backing vocalist for Chaka Khosn's single from 1978 Im Every Woman with her mom. Her mother, Jermaine and Lou Rawls were some of those who she sang with. The singer was also modeling for Seventeen Magazine in 1981. In 1981, she began to work as a vocalist with New York's funk band Material. It was her high-quality vocal performance in this band that attracted the attention of record label including Arista. Whitney Houston, her debut album, released in 1985 was the top-selling album of an unproven singer. Singles such as The Greatest Love of All, How Do I Know if You Give Good Love or Saving the Day and All My Love were all released on the album. These songs enabled Houston to earn 7 US top tens, which surpassed even those of the Beatles. The album sold three million copies in its debut album's first year of release in the US and then went on to achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning them the first six Grammies. The album that followed it in 1987 Whitney that included hits What Do Broken Hearts Go and I Wanna Dance With Somebody built the foundation of her popularity, however it was her 1992 movie The Bodyguard (1992) that made her one of the best-selling artists ever. While the movie itself and her performance in it were not highly appreciated, the album's soundtrack and her cover of Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You topped the charts of albums and singles for months and sold 44 million copies all over the world. In 1993, it was also that she married Bobby Brown, an ex-New Edition artist and father of the sole child of her marriage, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Around this time that her much documented substance abuse began. By 1996 she was a daily user.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchor and political reporter. Her programs on Saturdays comprise Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics. Bash is the recipient of several awards and honours. Elle magazine once listed Bash on the Women in Washington Power List. Her amazing anchoring and reporting abilities are highly praised by a variety of journalists. The George Washington University grad is a devoted mother to her single child.
