Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress across Canada as well as New Zealand for over a decade. Born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11 making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian native New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her role as the empathetic and curious girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the prize. The role as Flora McGrath - the daughter to an Scottish muffled pianist from New Zealand at mid-19th Century was a part she won after she participated in an open audition. In her twenties, she had little or any experience in acting. When she was a teenager her family left Canadian to United States. Paquin had the role of lead in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part in the film as Jane Eyre in the film when she was only a child. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a smaller part. The actress played teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa as a character in Almost Famous (2000).
