April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US She is one of a small group of women who have had medals won in more than one Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days she will attempt to claim her third Olympic medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. At 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her last chance. Her confidence is high nevertheless. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and If we play our best I believe we can win the gold medal." "I'm planning to test some luck." Ross born August 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. At Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous sports. Being a pre-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. Although she was a pro at indoor volleyball, it was clear that her skills were above the average. According to her bio her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). The results of her efforts were acknowledged when she was named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. Her volleyball skills also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in the year 2000. Although Ross and Klineman are a couple since the year 2017, Klineman was already a big-time athlete on the beach even before the pair formed. The American has been a major winner in tournaments twice with different partners. A couple of those has become an icon of the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years between 2007 and 2013. She also coached Klineman as well as herself. Alongside Kessy Ross was a force on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team along with Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the sand as a pro Ross played with the Trojans of USC as an collegiate. Her career was a success through the NCAA tournament. When she was a freshman in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore season and yet she went on to repeat as an All-American. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans to the summit of the mountain winning three consecutive championships at the national level. She was a great volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to watch her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her at and off the beaches.
