Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name given to Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was who was born in Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father was from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder considers herself Jewish. The actress has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven.
